Day 10 July 30

Today the boys washed the decks and did the dishes one final time for the summer.  After the decks were cleaned we enjoyed some of the boys enjoyed a trip the bean for breakfast.  We set out for camp and had a great breeze all the way back.  We arrived at camp just before lunch.  That afternoon the boys enjoyed an activity period at camp where they sailed sunfish,  wake boarded, and went to the archery range to name a few.  That evening we had feast of T bone steaks, vegetables kabobs, and pasta salad. For dessert we had smores and cupcakes.

Day 9 July 29

This morning we woke up and had breakfast of bacon and oatmeal while we watched the shrimp boats real in their nets from their night of fishing in the bay river.  After breakfast we ship shaped the boat. The boys also took showers off the side of the boat. Once the boat was presentable we raised the anchor and headed out for oriental.  Today the boys were in complete Control of the vessel receiving no guidance from the crew.  The boys did great and we're able to safely navigate the boat to oriental.  Once we docked every one went to the bean for for a cold drink or ice cream after a hot day on the water. The boys enjoyed some free time until dinner.  For dinner we ate at M&M cafe which wonderful food but even better pies for dessert.

Day 8 July 28

Today we slept in late and enjoyed our last day on the dock in Ocracoke.  We returned the bikes and got provisions for the boat.  After topping off the water tanks and icing down the boat.  We head out of Ocracoke towards brant shoal.  We sailed from 11 until 8 where we arrived at the bay river. For dinner we had burritos.

Day 7 July 27

Today we slept late and the enjoyed a breakfast of French toast and fresh fruit.  We did a full boat clean today by scrubbing the decks and cleaning both the cabins and the galley. After the boat was ship shape we got ready for our kayak adventure.  We paddle out of silver Lake Harbor toward springer point a know hide out of black Beard.  From there we head further down along the Marsh to the end of the Island. There beached our kayaks and enjoyed a swim in the ocean.  Once we returned from our nearly t miles of paddling every one was beat and we enjoyed a rest afternoon of reading and a movie the boat.  Some of the boys needed to do some Laundry and learned how to do it the old fashion way.  We ended our day with a trip to howard's Pub a long standing refuge for sailors.

Day 6 July 26

Today the boys woke up and wanted bacon so we cooked all the bacon aboard the boat coming in close to 5 pounds.  After we had our fill we headed to the town dock and caught a ride to portsmouth island.  Portsmouth island is next to Ocracoke and was abandoned in the 80s for safety reasons.  The island then became a national park to persevere the village which had operated in the same Manor since the early 1900s. When we arrived at the island and dug in the sand for clams.  After an hour and half we found about 50 which would make the basis of our chowder for dinner.  We then explored the town and saw all of the old houses and the church. After exploring the island we headed back to Ocracoke for a late lunch of burgers at smacnallys the best burger place on the island. The kids then enjoyed an afternoon of free time and for dinner we feasted on fresh clam chowder.

Day 5 July 25

We sailed through the night from Manteo to Ocracoke the boys worked in 4 hour shifts to keep us sailing all night long and into the morning.  The sky's were clear so we had an unbelievable view of the milky way all night over head. We arrived at the dock by 9 am at which point the boat was cleaned and all the dishes we're done.  Once the boat was ship shape we headed out to get bikes for the island. The boys were then allowed to have  bit of free time where they explored the Island and went to the beach we all met back on the boat for dinner.  The captain prepared gumbo from the fresh caught sea food available to us. For dessert we the  biked down to get some ice cream and enjoyed a beautiful sunset

Day 4 July 24

Today we had late rack and  enjoyed and the crew enjoyed not having to hoist the anchor.  We headed out to stackem high a local breakfast place where the kids pegged out on pancakes. After our breakfast settled we went to jokies Ridge the largest sand dune on the east coast near.  The boys enjoyed flying a trick kite on the dunes.  From there we re supplied the boat at Harris teeter.  Then boys were given free time in Manteo before we head out through the Manteo cut to the Pamlico sound. Once we made it through the channel we made dinner under way and prepared for a long haul until we reach Ocracoke.
